Sweetwater design is a family business focused on custom building and carpentry. Minimizing the environmental impacts of our activities is a top priority. Our aim is to improve the way wood resources are handled, from the appropriate selection of trees, the building of value-added products, to the efficient handling, distribution, and use of finished products. We are also interested in providing customers with quality sources of ethically-harvested lumber, and in using salvaged and recycled materials whenever possible.
We are based in Hamilton, Ontario, and Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario — a beautiful place where the natural resources required for our projects are readily available.

Our company name is a nod to the history of Lake Huron, which was originally called "La Mer Douce” or “The Sweetwater Sea” by French explorers who were impressed by its grandeur.
